Two years could not have been more different at the Royal Welsh Show at Llanelwedd .

Monday started dry and warm but, as opposed to last year when summer put in an appearance for the majority of the show, the week deteriorated weatherwise and by Wednesday, you were sunk without your brolly and plastic poncho. You’d be forgiven for thinking that the annual bog snorkelling event (Llanwrtyd Wells) had changed venue to the main ring of the showground. The Cob stallions still managed to strut their stuff while their handlers waterskied alongside.

The weather, however, didn’t dampen the mood of the show which turned out to be as large an attraction as ever, drawing in crowds and competitiors from North to South and way beyond. There was also more media attendance than at any other previous show at Builth.
